Somewhere in France: Melbourne Uni Exhibition

After years of research by students and scholars of the French department at the University of Melbourne, the Somewhere in France museum exhibition opens at the Baillieu Library today! The exhibition features a collection of stories, images, and mementos from the Australians who fought and provided medical assistance in France and Belgium during the First World War.

Through archival research as part of the WWI centenary, our team uncovered forgotten people, moments, and connections that brought French, Belgian, and Australian people together in a time of instability and suffering. The bilingual exhibition focusses less on the Australians’ time spent on the front line, and more on their quieter moments spent connecting with French and Belgian people.

Catch the Somewhere in France exhibition at the Baillieu Library, University of Melbourne, from March 11 to June 26.
